Bynder Update: AI Agents, MCP Integration, and More Control for Admins

Bynder has once again expanded its DAM platform with the latest release. The update addresses three areas: administrators receive finer control options, the AI agents for brand compliance and data enrichment become more powerful, and with Bynder MCP, the system opens up directly for AI assistants for the first time. An overview of the most relevant innovations from this release for brix customers.

With the new Preference Center, users can decide for themselves which notifications they receive – and whether via email, in the app, or through both channels. In the future, the selection can be made for significantly more areas: for the asset lifecycle, for the waiting room – the approval queue for newly uploaded assets before they are integrated into the DAM –, for Bynder Express – the function for quickly sending files that should not be stored in the DAM but should be sent via the Bynder platform –, for user rights, as well as for Collections (asset collections curated in Bynder). Also new is a notification as soon as files shared via Bynder Express have been downloaded. For larger teams, this means less notification noise and more transparency exactly where it is relevant.

Bynder's AI agents cover a larger part of asset management with the update:

• Brand Compliance Agents now also check PDFs and documents – including font family, size, weight, and style. Additionally, compliance rules can be controlled via metadata such as resolution, DPI, aspect ratio, file type, usage status, tags, and archiving date, allowing channel and print approvals to be directly verified.

• Enrichment Agents now maintain a version history of their prompt changes, which can be compared and reset. The agents can also incorporate uploader information such as name, email address, and user group into their enrichment logic, as well as read and update archiving status and planned archiving dates.

• Transformation Agents will automatically transfer selected meta-properties from the original asset to AI-generated asset variants in the future. A new usage dashboard also provides an overview of transformation activity, credit costs – the usage-based billing model for AI transformations in Bynder –, saved and downloaded assets, as well as utilized features and active users.

For companies with high asset volumes, this significantly reduces the manual review and maintenance effort – and makes AI-supported governance more understandable.

The Bulk Version Updater allows multiple new file versions to be uploaded simultaneously across many assets. The assignment is done automatically via the file name to the existing asset, while version history and audit trail are fully preserved. Especially with regular content refreshes – such as when assets have been edited – this saves significant time compared to individually updating each file.

With Bynder MCP – the connection to the Model Context Protocol, the open standard for linking AI assistants with external data sources – the DAM can be directly connected to AI assistants for the first time. Teams can specifically search, reference, and use shared assets and community content in their AI-supported workflows – in conjunction with other MCP connections to PIM, CMS, and marketing automation systems. For companies that already integrate AI assistants into their content processes, this provides direct, brand-compliant access to the central asset source – without detours through manual exports.
